HMI’s processing plant is 1,000 square meters in size and presently includes three production lines with a Homogenizer, Pasteurizer and other equipment, which can produce at least 8 tons of milk everyday, and has a cold capacity of up to 100 tons. Additionally, the processing plant is home to both the research and development team and quality control team. The research and development team works to constantly come up with innovative new products and improvements to existing ones, while the quality control team tirelessly test and check the production line to ensure that every product leaving the plant is fresh and highly nutritional.

The plant follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), which include controls and standards over:

  • Good housekeeping
  • Cleaning and Sanitation
  • Personnel practices
  • Building and facilities

HMI has complied with necessary legal licenses to operate from Bureau of Food and Drug Administration or BFAD and Department of Animal Industry or BAI.

Milk Reception
From the milking site, the milk is collected then stored in a lorry. First, quality control personnel takes in samples to test the incoming raw milk. The milk is tested for its % FAT and % SNF then the milk in the milk tanker will be transferred in the weigh vat the weigh vat where it is being weighed and transferred to their designated tanks.

Milk Production Process
Hacienda Macalauan, Inc. evolved from a milk farm with traditional processing to an industry with modern facilities and advanced procedures.

Quality Control Tests
The milk is tested for its % FAT and % SNF. As soon as we got the result, the milk shall now be standardized to low fat, full cream and others. The standardized milk stays in their designated jacketed tanks until it is ready for pasteurization.

Pasteurization and Homogenization
After standardization, the operator shall now process the milk. The milk shall be homogenized, pasteurized and coolled down immediately.

Filling and Packing
After processing, the milk is packed in our gable top machine in different packaging sizes.

Storage and Delivery
The packed milk shall then be transferred immediately to the cold storage to maintain its freshness. This section (Quality Assurance) should come at the end, after the whole process is explained
